MY STORY
Creativity Seeker
Hello there and welcome to my portfolio! To start, what's most interesting about me is where I grew up. While the easy answer is Boston, Massachusetts, that is not entirely true. Across the harbor is a city called Chelsea and for the first ten years of my life I grew up living in an industrial shipyard condo owned by my parents. As an only child, my creativity blossomed, creating fairytales in my head and fictional worlds to live in.
Currently, I am working towards a CE in Graphic Design from RISD. I am excited to be learning Adobe software in depth while also getting to put pen to paper.

ANALYTICAL PIECE ON POP CULTURE
In this essay, I analyze Miley Cyrus' music video "Mother's Daughter."
Cyrus creates a political platform for sex and gender roles. The use of diversity in celebrity castings, her “nasty and evil” lyrics, and her use of costumes and cinematography create this political platform that is pro-feminism, women power, and gender nonconforming power.
CREATIVE FEMINISM STORY
For this assignment, I was given the task of writing a science fiction story.
I was inspired by the idea of Peter Pan because originally he was cast by a female actress in plays. What if the genders were reversed in portrayal as well? Peter Pan would be a girl who took a boy under her wing. In my story Avery is more aggressive, she is maybe even emotionally abusive. Yet, she has the power at the end of the story to prey on Jamison who has seemingly lost his way at this point in life. He remembers something so magical, and a place where he was taken care of, free of responsibility. This is an added element to the original Peter Pan story.
Additionally, I use the notion of unisex names. I think this can be another aspect that could be further thought-about within the story. Who is playing what is perceived as “gender role?” And how does Jamison feel stripped of masculinity, yet somewhat like it and want to be taken care of? The gender roles get a bit lost.
PRIMARY RESEARCH PAPER
I had the unique opportunity through my Archiving Africa class to look at primary sources. In this class, we were tasked with categorizing and logging letters ranging from the 1930s through the '80s that were sent to and from several countries in Africa and then to the US. I chose to use some of these findings to write on Uganda's environment due to the effects of colonization.
STYLE WITH LU
Instagram Account
Above are images from my fashion blog and Instagram account. Here I focus on clothing and style. I started the page mainly for friends and family who always ask me where I get my clothing and about my fashion choices. It has been growing decently and has now become a goal of mine to work with fashion and retail companies directly.
